How does it work, in simple terms?
A typical 'Worst Case' Installation?
A radio plus a small directional antenna, mounted on a mast pipe, as high as practical...
*** Current Installation SPECIAL***

MECKLENBURG COUNTY
RESIDENTS:
Our Conceptual 'Green Broadband Wireless' Tower Zoning Drawing
My vision for the County is our school children using GoogleEarth@home, not just @school & County residents being able to research, communicate, shop, Telecommute or finally enjoying the internet for once in their life...
If this tower brought you broadband, shouldn't we be allowed to build it? If it was built without $0.01 of ANY TAX money, would you want it built? Why must we waste $3500 in fees mandated for unnecessary studies?
Is this a cell tower? Is a windmill tower a cell tower? The County says "any tower is a cell tower" but these are clear exceptions...These are not cell towers. They're utility towers for broadband services to rural areas!!!
Neither of these structures can currently apply for a building permit because even under "Special Exceptions", Zoning treats these as all as cell towers & are subject to same $3500 fee for senseless & unnecessary "studies". That is the typical steel cost of a light utility type structure like these. We ask anyone who sees a difference, wants wireless broadband, or believes in American opportunity for local businesses to serve you & not charged like the big Mega-Co's who won't service us, PLEASE email:
Wayne Carter: <hwcarter@meckcom.net>
Bob Hendrick: <meck_co_zoning@yahoo.com>
You can call 738-6191 & tell them to get busy!
Do tell them you want the Board of Supervisors to embrace broadband by amending the Zoning Code to include a 3rd class for a "Community or Utility Tower" (~$400 fee) so Wireless Broadband & Green Energy can be built for County Residents, by County Residents!
What is Mecklenburg County's plan to comply with a Virginia State mandate ? Nothing... Zippo... They were even offered a volunteer Technical Committee...
